I-Charts
When your child talks about the Daily 5, you may hear the term "I-Charts". The "I" stands for Independence. We build these anchor charts together when I introduce new components of the Daily 5. The charts are based on what the students say and they are posted in the classroom, remaining visible for students to use for reference. We revisit these charts daily, sometimes adding additional information.
Some of the I-Charts we have posted around the room include "Read to Self", "I-Pick" Books, and "Read to Someone". We also have a classroom "Word Collector" chart to track and collect interesting words as well as a chart that details the "Three Ways to Read A Book". The student's FAVORITE chart is the one that tracks our Reading Stamina as it grows each day.
